Manage, Nurture, Disciple - What?

Manage, Nurture, Disciple - What?

Can I tell you how this design came to be? It’s been hanging around in my heart long before TCM ever was a thing.

Back when I left teaching to be at home with my babes, silly as it sounds, I was changing my Instagram bio.

My old bio spoke of being a teacher and a GSD owner, and it was no longer fitting as I entered this new season of life, met my new normal, and stepped into a new purpose.

I wracked my postpartum brain to sum up this life change in 140 characters - I honestly gave it too much thought, but it caused me to define my “why,” my purpose in being home.

Yes, absolutely, yes, to be with my babies, but it was even more than that. I was there— home— to be more than just a childcare worker.

Manage - I’d taken on the managing of all bills, the budget, the organization of our finances. I was managing the flow of the physical home, it’s interior design; actively decluttering 4 years of stuff we’d accumulated in the beginning of our marriage became my first project.

Nurture - I strove to create a place of rest, of peace, a place of welcome to the weary traveler, a place for my hardworking husband to come home to and breathe, a place for my new baby and any future kiddos to grow, learn, love, and experience the sweetness of childhood, a haven from the world.

Disciple - As believers, Jesus instructs us to make disciples. I wanted to be the first and primary influence in my children’s lives to - to be the one to introduce them to Jesus, insert scripture into the wet cement of their tender little hearts. To teach them to love one another as Jesus loved them. To forge beautiful sibling relationships that will go with them through this life and into the next, Jesus being their bond.

And then I thought, this surely isn’t just my unique purpose - this is a purpose that bonds us as moms. This is a common goal that many of us are striving for (thank God for community; thank Him he didn’t intend us to go it alone).

And thus, it became a t-shirt design - something of a secret code that when another mom sees it, they recognize their own purpose written out, and BAM 💥 - instant mom friend. 😉
